Killing Birds With Postcards

As my message suggests, I have "form" when it comes to postcard sending. Many years ago I was sat in Brussels in the midst of a boring EU meeting when I decided to write a novel. All I had to hand was a picture postcard, so I wrote the first few paragraphs on that and then sent it to my friend Martin M. A few days later I composed the next few paragraphs and the most natural thing in the world seemed to be to pen them on the back of a postcard and send them to Martin. As so I continued, for a further 150 postcards. Sadly, the project was never finished (projects rarely are with me). Martin, however, was a fairly obvious early recipient for my 2013 Resolution to send a postcard every week.

  1. What a great idea...even if it wasn't completed way back then. I'll have to blog hop over to Martin to say Happy Birthday, myself!

love your handwriting, as always, Alan. They should use it as a font choice. Burnett Bold. Yes, I like the sound of that very much. What do you think? :)

  2. I can relate to starting a novel during a boring meeting. Although I never attended an EU meeting, I did write some of my best poetry trying to survive corporate planning off-site meetings. (By the way, "my best poetry" is a very low bar, indeed!)

  3. This is a cool idea!
I'm down to about a dozen Christmas cards and 40 or so email letters.

  4. That was a cool idea, and I wonder if the mail person caught on and read them too! I have to agree too, you print very nicely!

  6. Two great ideas. Writing a noel on postcards and posing one a week here. I have a collection of postcards but I don't know what to do with them. Any suggestions.

  8. I must get out a bit more and go round the shops, I'm not sure where I'd find a Postcard locally. I only see them when I'm vacationing.

Just love the image, thought I recognised the features, but I must be mistaken - the fridge is clearly American
