Completing The Square : Down And Up

The larger of my two photographs was taken from just outside Halifax Station in the early 1970s, just after Square Church burnt down. What remained of the wonderful Victorian Church - other than the tower - were demolished in 1976 and the space adjacent to the spire remained unused for fifty years. Until now, as the photograph I took today shows,  the framework for the new Halifax Library and Archives is under construction - a fine new use of the space. The square has been completed.
