When I visited Thirsk during the summer of 1989, I had my seven year-old son with me. We stayed at the Three Tuns Hotel. I remember sitting around the fire the fireplace and that there were two resident Golden retrievers in the lobby. What I cannot remember: Was there a bar inside the hotel? Or what was the nearest pub? I sort of stayed away from any glasses of beer as I had my boy with me.FireLighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06807248509319526615noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37291817.post-74219159289492146652010-03-22T16:13:38.309+00:002010-03-22T16:13:38.309+00:00Bach : You'd be welcome whenever.Bach : You'd be welcome whenever.Alan Burnetthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01015127443616786425noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37291817.post-34162018696809301882010-03-22T15:19:01.682+00:002010-03-22T15:19:01.682+00:00Great pub post! There are a few still in the inner city but not in the burbs.Bainohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14156193098088048637noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37291817.post-74548229147713876652010-03-21T09:54:39.798+00:002010-03-21T09:54:39.798+00:00Martin H : Yes I have to agree - no longer being a...Martin H : Yes I have to agree - no longer being able to experience the rich aroma of Old Shag mixed with the scent of spilled beer - if one so chooses - is a bit like no longer being able to gaze on the proud profile of a dodo.Alan Burnetthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01015127443616786425noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37291817.post-35003144705162329452010-03-21T09:45:39.328+00:002010-03-21T09:45:39.328+00:00I know this flies in the face of all that I know t...I know this flies in the face of all that I know to be right, but some pubs just don't have the same appeal without that lingering aroma. I have to satisfy myself with an occasional whiff of woodsmoke at our 'local' these days.

The Golden Pippin sounds nice.Martinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13494219959077922220noreply@blogger.com
