If you've ever read James Michener's "Chesapeake" you've met them; his swamp rat family of the Turlocks is based on Mom's family on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. He interviewd my great-aunt Clara and some other members of the family down there, and when Michener's book came out one member of the family put out the notice not to bother reading it because "it's the same stories Grandaddy tells every Sunday". Like the Turlocks, they were thieves, pirates, slavers, fast talkers, and con men. Yup, it's a pretty colorful family history!Royhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01648670975466222140noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37291817.post-15168027467280536892015-09-03T11:43:27.195+01:002015-09-03T11:43:27.195+01:00I enjoy 'Who Do you think You Are', but th...I enjoy 'Who Do you think You Are', but think that the tendency to concentrate on just one ancestor is rather a shame. It's still a great programme, though. Very much enjoyed your story - Harold was quite a man; someone who could possibly have made a difference had he survived. I eagerly await future tales - especially Uncle Harry and the Pierrot Show and, of course, Annie Moore and the Blackout.Mike@Bit About Britainhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08741370413282813229noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37291817.post-88020850737046081812015-09-03T10:38:53.706+01:002015-09-03T10:38:53.706+01:00I'd risk finding out that my family were all r...I'd risk finding out that my family were all rather nefarious, LOL!ehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11376645220662546020noreply@blogger.com
