One of the advantages of my exercise in consolidation is that it gives me the opportunity to revisit some of my more neglected blogs and attempt to bring them up to date. One such blog is "Fat Dog To The Big Apple". For those unfamiliar with this ridiculous project, let me give you a bit of background. I started the blog three years ago as an exercise in virtual reality, an experiment to see how accurately you could visit places using nothing but the power of the internet and the wonders of resources such as Google Earth. The idea was that I would take my dog Amy on a walk from Los Angeles to New York. We would actually do the walking, but it would be on the wet and grey streets of West Yorkshire. Each week we would transfer the miles walked to our virtual trans-continental walk from the Pacific to the Atlantic. We would use the full resources of the web to explore the places we passed through and report on the project via weekly "postcards" to the blog. Since last November we have been going nowhere, so it is time to restart. If I go ahead with my Grand Blog Consolidation plans I will send the weekly post to this blog in future : but until I make a final decision I will post to both blogs.
