Back At Last : Well, Back-ish

My apologies for my late return to blogging - things have been rather hectic since our return from holiday at the end of last week. In particular we have had to pack The Lad up and send him off to The Gambia for a couple of months (he will be working with the Medical Research Council over there) and that was a somewhat stressful experience - logistically for me, emotionally for the GLW. He does seem to have arrived there safely : which is more than can be said for his luggage which is somewhere either in Europe or Africa!

I suspect it will take me a few days to rediscover my routine, but I will start posting regularly again very soon. I will also try and update you about my American visit which was memorable in every sense. I leave you with one of the photographs I took one evening in New York. Somehow it seems to sum up so much about that wonderful city.

  2. Oh, I do hope his luggage is located and returned to him. You need a few days to have a holiday from your holiday!

Hope the luggage finds it's way to Alex. How frustrating!

So, who gets to to all of that vacation laundry...you or the GLW? ha.

  9. So glad you are back safe and sound and full of good stories. You were missed but you left things well organized. Now that is a great leader. Hope things get back to normal for your Alex.

  11. Welcome back!

The Gambia! I remember it well. Bathurst (since renamed Banjul) was my first foreign port when I went to sea as a 16 year-old cadet (other than Las Palmas as a stop-off) in 1971.
