It's interesting how some pubs blend so seamlessly into rows of houses. It makes me think of reading the census where you find several pubs or beer sellers all along the same street.
I remain curious in seeing how many of the pubs are just a door into a regular building. We trash up the front of our bars with beer signs and florescent lights. Most that I have seen of yours could be just another door to head into a group of apartments. I am glad you still have some of them around to keep you going.
I like speculating on the architectural changes. There once was a door in the center and judging by the window above opened to a stair case to upstairs apartments. Perhaps it still is a stairwell, and the apartment on the left is up and down. Or, some other interior arrangement. The window under the six has one pane replaced by a little wood door. Perhaps for take away.

ReplyDeleteWe have a Bowling Green City here in Missouri. I will have to see if they actually have a bowling green.

ReplyDeleteThis pub has very substantial window sills. The long history would be much better than the Cadillac window sills.
